US Commercial Gaming Reaches Record Revenue in Q2 2024

16.08.2024

Revenue figures released by the American Gaming Association (AGA) show that the gaming industry generated $17.63 billion in revenue during the second quarter, marking the highest Q2 revenue ever recorded.

Revenue Growth Across Jurisdictions

This achievement extends the industry’s growth streak to 14 consecutive quarters, with an 8.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

The AGA’s report, which analyzed data from 33 jurisdictions, highlighted widespread revenue growth. Among these, 24 jurisdictions reported higher revenues compared to the same period last year.

The District of Columbia saw the largest growth, with a 178.7% increase, while Oklahoma experienced a decline of 8.2%, largely due to the closure of Will Rogers Downs in June.

Strong Performance Across Gaming Sectors

While traditional land-based gaming saw modest growth of 1.8%, reaching $12.49 billion, other sectors displayed more significant gains.

iGaming revenues surged by 25.2%, totaling $1.97 billion, and sports betting emerged as the top performer with a 35.3% increase, amounting to $3.16 billion.

The rise in sports betting revenue was driven by new market openings in states such as Vermont, Maine, North Carolina, and Kentucky.

Despite the rapid growth of digital gaming, land-based gambling remains the dominant contributor, accounting for 71.4% of total revenue.
