Mid-American Conference Implements Pre-Game Player Availability Reports for 2024 Season
The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced a new policy requiring football teams to provide player availability reports at least three hours before kickoff for the 2024 season.

New Reporting Requirements to Enhance Transparency
Approved by the MAC’s Council of Directors of Athletics in July, the policy mandates that all 12 teams submit detailed availability reports before each game.
These reports, which will be available on the MAC’s website and shared on the X social media platform, are part of broader efforts in college athletics to ensure fair play and transparency as sports betting becomes more prevalent.
Teams that fail to comply with the new requirements may face disciplinary action, with the league closely monitoring the accuracy of the information throughout the season.
Ensuring Game Integrity Amid Legalized Sports Betting
The MAC’s decision follows in the footsteps of the Big Ten, which began requiring pre-game availability reports two hours before kickoff last season.
The NCAA continues to enforce strict policies prohibiting student-athletes from gambling on any NCAA-sponsored events, even in jurisdictions where sports betting is legal.
In 2022, the MAC partnered with sports data and technology company Genius Sports to implement an integrity program that monitors betting activity for potential issues.
The addition of pre-game availability reports is seen as a natural extension of these efforts to protect the integrity of competition.
