Legislative Developments: Multi-App Sports Betting
Delaware is considering expanding its sports betting market through a new bill proposed by Representative Frank Cooke. This bill aims to permit up to six mobile sports betting operators, challenging the state’s current exclusive contract with BetRivers.
The proposal stems from a recommendation by a legislative working group, which suggests that introducing competition in the sports betting market could benefit the state.
Advocates for the bill argue that multiple operators will enhance consumer choice and potentially drive market growth. However, projections indicate that the state might face an annual revenue loss of $3 million if the bill is enacted.
