Bally Bet Set to Launch in Massachusetts by End of June
Bally Bet has announced its plans to go live in Massachusetts by the end of June. The update was provided during Thursday’s meeting of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
The company, which initially received its online sports betting operator license in January 2023, had delayed its launch but is now poised to enter the market this summer.
Overcoming Regulatory Hurdles
Brett Calapp, the Chief Operating Officer of Bally’s, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s upcoming expansion into Massachusetts, a state known for its passionate sports fanbase and rich sports history. “Our commitment is strong here,” Calapp stated. “We’re really excited to be in the state. This is a state with such a rich sports history,”
Calapp also mentioned that Bally Bet is actively working through all regulatory challenges associated with Massachusetts sports betting laws. Despite the remaining work, he is optimistic about the process, noting that he does not foresee any significant “barriers” that would prevent the betting app from launching as scheduled in June.
State’s Enthusiastic Response
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has expressed a positive reception to Bally’s planned entry into the state’s sports betting market.
Jordan Maynard, the commission’s interim chair, highlighted the importance of providing diverse betting options to combat illegal market activities and enhance consumer protection. “The eagerness comes out of the fact that we believe that to stamp out the illegal market and give people the protections that Massachusetts provides, it’s good to have options,” Maynard stated. He further expressed excitement about moving forward with a company that has completed the licensing process and is set to launch operations.
