Arizona Sees Revenue Growth in March

Arizona reported a year-on-year growth in sports betting revenue and handle for March. The state’s monthly results are released later compared to other states, which are currently reporting April figures.

$760m Handle in March

In March, player spending in Arizona reached $759.8 million, a 17.8% increase from $644.8 million in March 2022 and a 19.2% rise from $637.5 million in February 2023.

Of the total bets, $752.4 million was wagered online, $5.3 million at retail sportsbooks, and $2.1 million through limited event wagering (LEW) operators.

Revenue Breakdown

Gross event wagering revenue before the impact of free bets was $57.5 million. After deducting $19.5 million in free bets, the adjusted revenue stood at $38.0 million. This marks a 2.4% increase year-on-year and a 35.7% jump from February’s $28.0 million.

Online Wagering: $37.2 million of the adjusted revenue came from online bets.

Retail Wagering: Retail sportsbooks contributed $690,469.

LEW Operators: Limited event wagering accounted for $117,277.

Arizona collected $3.7 million in taxes from sports betting in March, while players won a total of $700.5 million.
