Unibet Sets Closure Dates in New Jersey and Pennsylvania

11.04.2024

Unibet is closing its New Jersey and Pennsylvania sites to concentrate on its core markets outside North America, in line with Kindred Group’s broader strategy.

New Jersey and Pennsylvania’s clousure

In New Jersey, Unibet’s online casino platform will conclude its services on May 14. The platform has already ceased accepting deposits as of April 5, urging players to finalize their withdrawals by May 13 to ensure a smooth transition.

The situation is similar in Pennsylvania, with Unibet’s site scheduled to become inaccessible starting June 21. Users in Pennsylvania have the opportunity to make deposits until May 21 and must complete their withdrawals by June 20. For those unable to meet this deadline, Unibet has committed to issuing cheques to ensure players receive their due funds.

In Pennsylvania, Unibet’s struggle to carve out a significant market share amidst fierce competition has led to its decision to withdraw. Despite this, the state’s iGaming sector remains robust and is expected to continue thriving.

Strategic Realignment

This exit is a component of Kindred’s broader initiative to streamline operations and reduce costs by approximately £40m. Since establishing its footprint in North America in 2018, Kindred has navigated the regulatory and competitive landscape across several states and Canada. T

he decision to withdraw is influenced by a strategic refocusing on Kindred’s primary markets in Europe, alongside its ventures in Australia and Asia.
