Strong July for Massachusetts Sportsbook Operators
Massachusetts sportsbook operators had a successful July, as reflected in the latest revenue report from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Increase in Wagers Year-Over-Year
The Massachusetts’ mobile and retail operators reported a 10.3% hold, with the total handle showing significant growth compared to July 2023.
Seven mobile operators, including Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPN Bet, Fanatics Sportsbook, and FanDuel, took a combined $405.3 million in wagers.
This is a sharp increase from the $294.9 million in wagers recorded in July 2023. However, the handle was down compared to June 2024, which saw $509.3 million in wagers.
DraftKings Leads the Market
Boston-based DraftKings retained its position as the market leader, accepting $202 million in wagers with a hold rate of 10.3%. This generated $20.9 million in adjusted gross revenue. FanDuel followed closely, reporting $119.9 million in handle with a hold of 10.97%, securing its place as the second-largest operator in the state.
Massachusetts operators collectively paid more than $8 million in taxes to the state. The performance of the sportsbooks in July was further boosted by four digital operators posting a hold of over 10%, demonstrating strong profitability across the board.
