Sportradar Faces Patent Infringement Case in Texas

19.09.2024

Sportradar, the company known for its advanced sports data and video streaming solutions, is accused by U.S.-based Sportcastr, Inc. of infringing patents related to video streaming technology used by professional sports leagues.

Expansion into the U.S. Market Brings Legal Challenges

Sportradar, which provides data and technology to sportsbooks, media companies, and sports leagues around the world, has been rapidly growing its presence in the U.S., a key market for the expanding iGaming and sports betting sectors.

The company’s alleged involvement in offering products “in every state” has now led to a legal dispute in Texas. According to Sportcastr, Sportradar’s video streaming systems, which have become integral to various sports betting platforms, infringe on its patents.

Texas Becomes the Battleground

Texas is not just a strategic location for tech companies but also a frequent venue for patent litigation. Sportcastr’s decision to file the lawsuit in Texas comes as Sportradar continues to strengthen its U.S. operations.

Despite Sportradar’s efforts to transfer the case to Delaware, the Texas court ruled that the company’s substantial business presence in the state justified keeping the case there.
