Scientific Games is rolling out its SCiQ retail tech across North Carolina, hooking up 1,000 lottery retailers with a system set to shake up how Scratch-Off games get sold.

A Boost for Scratch-Off Sales

The move ties into the North Carolina Education Lottery’s (NCEL) push to sharpen its retail game. With Scratch-Offs raking in $2.9 billion in fiscal 2024, landing NCEL among the world’s top 15 instant game lotteries per La Fleur’s 2024 Almanac, this tech’s a big bet on boosting sales and efficiency. Retailers and players alike stand to see the perks.

SCiQ dishes out real-time inventory data, syncing with NCEL’s SciTrak predictive ordering to keep stock tight and sales humming.

In stores, it cuts the hassle, think automated management, locked bins to nix theft, and digital displays flaunting game details for players.

“We’re excited to bring SCiQ to our retailers throughout the state,” said NCEL CEO Mark Michalko. “We anticipate that this technology system will improve inventory management for our retailers with store-level data analytics and improve sales to ultimately benefit education in our state.”

What SCiQ Brings to the Table

It’s a first-of-its-kind setup for lottery retail. SCiQ packs digital menu boards, auto-inventory tools to dodge out-of-stocks, and real-time sales reports tailored to each store.

For retailers, it’s a streamlined way to handle a $2.9 billion Scratch-Off chunk that’s anchored NCEL’s success. Players get a slicker experience too—those displays make picking games a breeze.

Already live in over a dozen U.S. markets and freshly launched in Europe, SCiQ’s proven it can lift sales, and North Carolina’s next in line.

Scientific Games cranks out instant games and runs them through its Enhanced Partnership program from a hub near Raleigh. “We commend the NCEL team for its clear vision on the need for technology that improves how Scratch-Off games are managed and sold in stores,” said Michael Martin, VP of Retail Solutions at Scientific Games. “Scientific Games is thrilled to add more value to our instant game partnership with NCEL through SCiQ, and we look forward to working with NCEL retailers to make selling Scratch-Offs as easy and efficient as possible.”
