Eight of the largest U.S. online gaming operators will pool data to strengthen consumer protection under a new Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) initiative led by LexisNexis® Risk Solutions.

A Unified Self-Exclusion System

ROGA, which represents roughly 90% of the legal U.S. sports betting market by handle, announced that LexisNexis Risk Solutions will build and administer a new data clearinghouse. The program will allow a person who self-excludes on one member platform to be automatically excluded from every other ROGA member platform.

“This expansion of player self-exclusion beyond individual operators is crucial to ensuring breaks from online gaming for those that need them,” said ROGA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Shatley. “LexisNexis Risk Solutions’ expertise will be a valuable resource to provide high-quality data security and checks that help the industry better protect players expressing the need to take a break.”

Why LexisNexis Was Chosen

ROGA’s decision followed an extensive RFP process. The association cited LexisNexis’ deep experience in data security, privacy, and infrastructure, along with its ability to create a standardized, secure, and well-governed analytics workflow.

Sean Britt, Senior Director at LexisNexis Risk Solutions, said the company’s long record of handling sensitive data positioned it to support ROGA’s mission: “By leveraging our expertise and commitment to security and privacy, we will help create a safe, standardized system that empowers the gaming industry to strengthen consumer protection.”

Launched in March 2024, ROGA comprises eight of the nation’s largest online gaming operators and promotes evidence-based best practices for responsible gaming. The clearinghouse is its most ambitious initiative yet, creating an independent process for multi-state self-exclusion that works across operators and jurisdictions.

The first phase will focus on building and managing a combined self-exclusion list, but the framework opens the door to other shared responsible gaming tools in the future. With LexisNexis Risk Solutions as a technology partner, ROGA aims to set a new standard for how the legal online gaming industry protects its customers.
