Optimove Study Finds Live Betting Dominates U.S. Sports Wagering
A recent report from Optimove Insights reveals that live betting has become a cornerstone of sports wagering in the United States, accounting for 52% of all bets placed.

Live Betting: The Spending Difference
The analysis, which examined data from nearly 3.8 million players across five countries, highlights a significant trend: live bettors in the U.S. are spending almost twice as much as their pre-match counterparts.
U.S. players who engage in live betting spend an average of $1,583.90 per month, compared to $846.20 for those placing pre-match wagers.
Globally, similar trends emerged, with live betting making up 54% of all wagers across major markets like the U.K., Greece, Italy, and Spain. Greece led the way, with an astounding 70% of bets placed live.
Why Live Betting Is So Popular
Live betting allows players to place wagers as events unfold, such as predicting the next touchdown or point scored. This creates a more interactive experience compared to placing a bet before the game starts.
It offers more opportunities per game, encouraging players to bet multiple times in a single event. This naturally drives higher spending compared to the one-and-done nature of pre-match betting.
Dynamic odds that shift with the game add another layer to this. Bettors can react to changes in momentum, making live betting feel more strategic and immersive.
