Ohio Sports Betting Sees Significant Growth in August
Ohio’s sports betting numbers are growing and August was no exception. The state’s handle was $548.7 million, up 44.6% from August 2023 and 14.9% from July 2024. Most of the bets, $539.9 million, were online, with retail sportsbooks accounting for $13 million.
Revenue and YTD
The state took in $48.8 million in sports betting revenue for August, up 19.6% from last year but down 12% from July.
Online sports betting was $46.6 million and retail sportsbooks were $2 million. YTD Ohio sports betting revenue is $541.5 million.
Online Sportsbooks
FanDuel was the top online sportsbook in Ohio for August with a handle of $165.7 million and $16.9 million in revenue.
Despite a higher handle of $178.8 million, DraftKings had slightly less revenue at $16.7 million.
Bet365 had $4 million in revenue from $59.4 million in bets, BetMGM had $2.3 million from $38.2 million and ESPN Bet had $1.9 million from $19.7 million.
Retail Sportsbooks
In the retail sportsbook space, Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway had a handle of $1.4 million and $377,810 in revenue.
Seminole Hard Rock Digital had a $1.9 million handle and $363,549 in revenue. The state collected $9.8 million in tax revenue and the YTD total is over $108 million.
All Time High for Casinos and Racinos
Ohio’s casinos and racinos also hit an all time high in August with $204.1 million in revenue, up 4.7% from August 2023.
The four casinos had $85.7 million, up from $82.8 million in 2023 and the seven racinos had $118.4 million, up from $112.5 million.
