Ohio Gaming Revenue Hits $207.4M in December

06.02.2025

Ohio’s gaming industry wrapped up 2024 with strong revenues from casinos and racinos, but sports betting profits took a hit in December

The total gaming revenue for the month reached $207.4 million, with casinos generating $89.1 million and racinos (horse racetracks with slot machines) bringing in $118.2 million. This is a 4% increase compared to November and kept yearly gaming revenues steady at $2.4 billion, matching 2023 levels.

Sports Betting Revenue Takes a Sharp Dip

While Ohio’s sports betting industry saw record-breaking numbers in November, the momentum slowed in December. The total sports betting revenue for the month came in at $55.5 million, a dramatic drop from the previous month’s figures.

The online sector continued to dominate, generating $56.6 million, while retail sportsbooks faced a $1.1 million loss, cutting into overall profits.

This decline came despite high betting activity, showing how hold percentages and bettor success rates played a major role in final revenue figures.

Casino and Racino Revenues Remain Strong

Unlike the sports betting sector, casino and racino revenues remained stable. Casinos brought in over $1 billion in revenue for the fiscal year, with slot machines contributing $732.7 million and table games adding $276 million.

While total gambling revenue across all sectors remained flat year-over-year, the shift in consumer habits favoring online sports betting over retail sportsbooks was evident.
