New York Online Sports Betting Sees Record Spending in April

In April, New York’s online sports betting market saw one of its highest monthly totals since the state legalized it. Players spent a staggering $1.96 billion, marking a 27.3% increase from April 2023’s $1.54 billion and a 6.0% rise from March 2024’s $1.85 billion.

Impressive Revenue Growth

April also saw significant growth in gross gaming revenue from sports wagering, which reached $183.8 million. This represents a 32.4% increase from the $138.8 million generated in April 2023 and a 21.2% rise from March 2024’s $151.7 million.

Despite these impressive numbers, the all-time monthly revenue record remains $211.5 million, set in January 2024. The highest handle to date is $2.11 billion, achieved in November 2023.

Market Leaders

FanDuel, owned by Flutter Entertainment, continues to dominate New York’s online sports betting market. In April, FanDuel reported $91.0 million in revenue from a handle of $780.5 million, maintaining a clear lead over its competitors. DraftKings remains the closest challenger with $63.2 million in revenue and a handle of $737.0 million.

Caesars ranks third, significantly trailing behind with $10.4 million in revenue from $158.8 million in bets. BetMGM follows in fourth place, posting $9.1 million in revenue from a $130.2 million handle. Rounding out the top five is Fanatics, which reported $5.6 million in revenue from $74.1 million in wagers.
