New Hampshire Sports Betting Rebounds in March with $72.6M Handle

New Hampshire’s sports betting market experienced a rebound in March, reporting a handle of $72.6 million, marking a 16.5% increase from the previous month.

This recovery ended a three-month decline, including February when the Super Bowl typically boosts betting figures.

Boost from March Madness

The lift in March is largely attributed to the NCAA March Madness tournament, a key event in the sports betting calendar that consistently draws high engagement.

Before this uptick, New Hampshire’s sports betting sector had been facing a downward trend, even with major events like the Super Bowl.

A significant contributor to March’s success was the mobile betting sector, which accounted for $65.0 million, or 89.5% of the total monthly handle.

The retail sector also saw growth, with the handle increasing by 18.8% to $7.6 million in March, up from $6.4 million in February.

Revenue Insights

Despite the positive performance in handle, March’s gross gaming revenue was recorded at $5.6 million, the third-lowest for the fiscal year 2024 and the lowest since August 2023, before the NFL season began. This suggests that while more people are betting, the profitability per bet might be lower or the payouts higher this month.

Looking at the broader picture, New Hampshire’s cumulative betting handle for the year stands at $585.8 million, which trails behind last year’s figure of $727.1 million at the same point.
