Ray Pineault, President and CEO of Mohegan, announced he will step down from his leadership role on Sunday, December 28, 2025. The company made the announcement on Thursday, October 16, detailing that Pineault is leaving the global gaming operator to devote more attention to his family.

Transition and Legacy of Service

Pineault called the decision the right time for him to transition from the role. He noted that his family “undoubtedly made sacrifices” to allow him to serve in the demanding position.

He emphasized that it was an honor to serve the Mohegan Tribe for nearly 25 years. The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority Management Board stated it is taking appropriate steps to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.

Pineault’s extensive career with Mohegan began in 2001 as a senior attorney for the Tribal Government. He steadily rose through the ranks, eventually serving as the Chief Operating Officer and as President and General Manager of Mohegan Sun, the flagship casino in Connecticut.

Growth and Post-Pandemic Leadership

Pineault was appointed President and CEO of Mohegan in 2021. During his tenure, he navigated the complex period of re-opening Mohegan resorts following the COVID-19 pandemic. He also oversaw the establishment and expansion of Mohegan Digital, the company’s online gaming division.

Pineault leaves the company in a strong position, stating that Mohegan is “well-prepared for the future,” including the ongoing expansion of online gaming. James Gessner Jr., Chairman of the Tribal Council, praised Pineault’s leadership, commitment, and passion for helping the Tribe, acknowledging the immense personal sacrifices required to lead a major international business like Mohegan.
