14.01.2025

Missouri’s gaming industry reported $164.8 million in revenue for December 2024, marking a 3% decline compared to December 2023 but a 5.3% increase from November 2024.

Casino Revenue Leaders

Leading the pack in December was Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, which generated $26.6 million in revenue. Close behind were River City Casino with $22.9 million and Hollywood Casino with $22.4 million, rounding out the top three earners.

Missouri’s 13 riverboat casinos remain a cornerstone of the state’s gaming landscape. Over the course of the 2024 fiscal year, which ended in December, these casinos generated $938.1 million in total revenue, down 1% from the $950.1 million reported in the previous fiscal year.

Looking Ahead: Legalized Sports Betting in Missouri

Missouri’s gaming industry is on the brink of transformation with the recent legalization of sports betting. Residents voted to approve Amendment 2 during the November 5, 2024, referendum, passing the measure by a razor-thin majority of 50.05%. This development sets the stage for Missouri to join the growing list of states offering legal sports betting.

While the official deadline for launching the market is December 1, 2025, the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) is working aggressively to accelerate the timeline. With significant progress already underway, experts anticipate the market could go live as early as spring or summer 2025. This means Missouri residents may have the opportunity to place their first legal wagers by July 2025.
