The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has been honored with a Michigan Chapter Emmy Award for its innovative “Don’t Regret the Bet” responsible gaming campaign.

Award for Excellence in Responsible Gaming Promotion

Recognized in the Graphic Arts – Motion Graphics category, the campaign stood out for its excellence in design and creative storytelling, aimed at promoting responsible gaming practices across Michigan.

The award acknowledges the collaborative efforts between the MGCB and King Media, led by President and Founder Coleen King. The creative direction was spearheaded by King Media’s Executive Creative Director Bob Veasey and Senior Graphic Designer Keith Pzybyla-Kuchek, alongside motion graphics designer Keith Slawinski from Cutters Studios in Detroit. The campaign featured animated characters and motion graphics that brought to life its critical message of responsible gaming.

Creative Excellence and Impact

The “Don’t Regret the Bet” campaign, launched in March 2023, was designed to raise awareness about the risks of gambling addiction while encouraging responsible gaming practices. The creative team at King Media developed every aspect of the campaign—from ideation to scripting, and from asset development to branding. The end result was a series of commercials and promotional materials that captivated Michigan audiences and effectively conveyed the message of responsible gambling.

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams expressed gratitude for the partnership with King Media, stating, “This award-winning campaign highlights our commitment to promoting responsible gaming and protecting Michigan residents from gambling-related risks. The creative work behind ‘Don’t Regret the Bet’ has made a positive impact in conveying this message statewide.”

Coleen King, President and Founder of King Media, also reflected on the award, emphasizing the importance of educating citizens about responsible gaming. “Receiving an Emmy Award for our work in partnership with the MGCB is a testament to our team’s dedication and creativity. This recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to informing Michigan residents about responsible gambling.”

Sandra Johnson, manager of MGCB’s Responsible Gaming Section, echoed the sentiment, stating that the award is a reflection of the hard work and passion of the entire team. “This Emmy Award reminds us of the significance of our mission to protect the residents of Michigan and promote responsible gaming,” she said.
