Michigan Cracks Down on the Next Two Illegal Betting Sites
Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) dropped a hammer on Panama-based SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline.ag, issuing cease-and-desist orders for illegal gambling.

Unlicensed Operators in the Crosshairs
“The Michigan Gaming Control Board is committed to enforcing Michigan’s gaming laws and protecting consumers from illegal gambling,” said MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams.
The operators, lacking Michigan licenses, violated the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and Michigan Penal Code.
An anonymous tip sparked investigations revealing SportsBetting.ag offered bets on sports, horse races, politics, and casino games, plus cash-back incentives.
BetOnline.ag provided wagers on sports, live events, esports, and casino-style games like slots and poker, funded by credit cards, wire transfers, or crypto
Risks of Unregulated Betting
Both platforms, accessible to 18-year-olds despite Michigan’s 21+ betting age, pose big risks. Unlicensed sites often lack consumer protections, leaving players vulnerable to fraud or unfair practices.
The MGCB noted BetOnline’s crypto and credit card funding as a concern, flagging potential money laundering. SportsBetting.ag’s cash-back offers could lure problem gamblers.
The MGCB’s orders give SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline.ag 14 days to halt Michigan operations. This follows 11 cease-and-desist letters to offshore casinos last week and 13 earlier in April, targeting sites like Captain Jack Casino.
