Maine Sports Betting Market Sees Record Revenue Growth in July

Maine saw a sports betting handle amounting to $42.7 million in July 2024, marking the second-highest monthly handle since the state launched sports betting in November 2023.

Revenue and Tax Impact

After accounting for canceled wagers, Maine’s sportsbooks paid out $35.7 million, leaving them with $6 million in gross revenue.

The state’s tax revenue from sports betting also saw a considerable boost, coming in at just over $600,000—a roughly 76% increase from the previous month.

Performance of Maine’s Sportsbooks

Maine’s sports betting market is currently dominated by two operators: DraftKings and Caesars. Both operators saw new highs in adjusted revenue in July, combining for a total of $6 million.

DraftKings continues to lead the market with a handle of $36.8 million in July, the second-highest of the year. Caesars, while reporting its second-highest revenue of the year, saw a more mixed performance. The sportsbook’s handle was $5.9 million in July.
