Light & Wonder, GGW, G2E Launch ‘Gaming vs. Cancer’ Campaign
Light & Wonder has teamed up with Global Gaming Women and the Global Gaming Expo to launch Gaming vs. Cancer. This new campaign aims to unite the global gaming industry to raise awareness, funding, and support for cancer research, care, and community programs. The effort will benefit individuals and families affected by the disease.

The campaign encourages the industry to #JoinTheFightChangeTheGame by mobilizing partners, professionals, and players behind one cause. It seeks to fund critical advancements in treatment and prevention while directly supporting impacted families.
Uniting the Industry for Positive Change
Shannon Demus, CFO, Gaming Americas at Light & Wonder, stressed the importance of industry collaboration. She noted that L&W, as a leading cross-platform global games company, recognizes the responsibility to make a meaningful impact. Demus called the campaign a “powerful example of what is possible when the gaming industry unites with purpose and compassion to drive positive change.”
Pamela Buckley, Executive Vice President of Global Gaming Women, expressed the organization’s dedication to the cause. She noted that GGW’s mission is to connect, educate, and inspire women in the gaming industry. Buckley believes the partnership will raise awareness, share knowledge, and offer comfort and strength to those impacted by cancer.
Hands-On Event and Month-Long Fundraising
The Gaming vs. Cancer campaign launches in October, aligning with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The first activation is a hands-on volunteer event scheduled for Wednesday, October 8, at G2E.
The event, hosted in collaboration with GGW and United Way of Southern Nevada, gives G2E attendees the opportunity to assemble comfort kits. These kits are for patients currently undergoing cancer treatment. United Way of Southern Nevada will distribute the completed kits, which will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Korbi Carrison, Event Vice President for G2E, called it a “privilege” to bring the groups together for this important cause. She emphasized that the partnership provides “life-changing resources and tangible support” to those affected by cancer.
Additionally, Light & Wonder is conducting a month-long fundraising drive for the American Cancer Society. The company has committed to matching all donations up to $$10,000 made through its social impact portal, Game Changers for Good.
