Kentucky Sees Dip in Mobile Sports Betting Revenue in February
Kentucky’s mobile sports betting revenue experienced a downturn in February, following a period of consistent growth. After reaching a near-record $36.4 million in January, revenue dropped by 43% to $20.8 million in February.
This decline marks a sharp reversal from the upward trend observed in the preceding months, with December’s revenue previously recorded at $32 million.
Changes in Betting Handle
The total amount wagered via mobile sports betting in Kentucky also saw a decrease. The handle fell from $246.1 million in January to $198.6 million in February, representing a 19.3% month-on-month decrease.
DraftKings led the mobile sports betting market in Kentucky for February, generating $8.3 million in revenue, slightly ahead of FanDuel, which reported $7.7 million.
Retail Sports Betting Also Declines
Kentucky’s retail sports betting sector mirrored the decline seen in the mobile segment. The retail handle for February was $9.8 million, down 11.2% from January’s $11 million.
Moreover, retail sports betting revenue saw a significant decline, dropping 59% from January’s record high of $1.8 million to just $722,390 in February. This marks the lowest full-month revenue figure since the commencement of retail sports betting operations in early September.
