Keith Whyte Departs as NCPG Executive Director

17.01.2025

Keith Whyte, a long-serving advocate for gambling addiction awareness, has officially stepped down as Executive Director of the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) as of January 13, 2025.

A Legacy of Leadership

Keith Whyte’s tenure at NCPG leaves behind a legacy marked by tireless advocacy and dedication to addressing gambling harm.

Most recently, Whyte represented the organization in December 2024 at a U.S. Senate hearing on sports betting, where he underscored the critical underfunding of addiction prevention and treatment programs despite the rapid expansion of the sports betting industry.

His testimony served as a call to action, emphasizing the urgent need for comprehensive solutions to gambling-related harm.

“On behalf of the entire Board, I want to thank Keith for his leadership and contributions to the organization during his tenure,” said NCPG Board President Susan Sheridan Tucker.

Steady Leadership During Transition

The NCPG Board of Directors has appointed Nancy Green, FASAE, CAE, as the Interim Executive Director while a nationwide search for a permanent replacement gets underway.

Green is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in nonprofit and mission-driven environments. Her background includes leadership positions in organizations like the American Sustainable Business Network, where she guided transitions with a focus on operational excellence.

“Having guided several organizations through periods of change, I appreciate that maintaining operational excellence and mission focus are paramount during transitions,” said Green. “The NCPG’s work in reducing gambling-related harm is too important to pause.”

Green expressed confidence in the dedicated staff, board, and stakeholders, who remain committed to continuing essential programs and advocacy efforts during this transitional period.
