Indiana’s Sports Betting Revenue Soars Nearly 50% in August

Indiana witnessed a substantial surge in taxable sports betting revenue in August, reaching $11.4 million.

Month-on-Month Growth Observed

In August the state noted a remarkable 48.9% increase compared to August of the previous year, when the revenue was $7.7 million, according to the Indiana Gaming Commission.

The state not only experienced year-over-year growth but also saw an improvement from the prior month. The August revenue represented a 12.1% increase from July’s figure of $10.2 million, indicating a steady upward trend in the sports betting industry within the state.

Betting Handle Reaches New Heights

The total sports betting handle—the amount wagered by bettors—hit $112.3 million in August. This is a 17.3% rise from the $95.7 million recorded in August last year and an 18% increase from July’s handle of $95.1 million.

Baseball emerged as the most popular sport for bettors in Indiana during August. Wagers on baseball games accounted for $76.4 million of the total handle.
