IGT Rebrands Lottery Division as Brightstar Ahead of Gaming Sale
International Game Technology PLC announced its lottery division will now operate as Brightstar Lottery, setting the stage for a focused, innovation-driven future as it nears the sale of its gaming business.

A New Chapter for IGT’s Lottery Business
International Game Technology PLC (IGT) pulled the curtain off its lottery division’s new identity, Brightstar Lottery, effective immediately. The rebrand positions Brightstar as a standalone, pure-play lottery powerhouse, timed with the anticipated sale of IGT’s Gaming and Digital business to Voyager Parent, LLC, a holding company tied to Apollo Global Management, Inc., as early as July 1, 2025.
“Brightstar will guide lotteries into a digital future,” said CEO Vince Sadusky. Serving nearly 90 lotteries across six continents, Brightstar aims to spark innovation and player engagement.
Brightstar’s name evokes leadership and inspiration, building on IGT’s nearly 50-year lottery legacy. The company powers 26 of the 46 U.S. lottery jurisdictions and seven of the world’s 10 largest lotteries.
Brightstar will focus on digital adoption, modernizing platforms like iLottery, which grew 18% in 2024. “We’re blending heritage with innovation,” said Executive Chair Marco Sala. The rebrand sharpens Brightstar’s mission to boost lotteries’ good causes, like education and veterans’ programs.
Strategic Timing with the Gaming Sale
The rebrand dovetails with IGT’s $6.3 billion deal to sell its Gaming and Digital business, including slots and iGaming, to Apollo-managed funds, announced in February 2025.
The sale, expected to close by July 1, will leave Brightstar as IGT’s sole focus, a leaner entity with 5,000 employees, down from 11,000.
The move lets Brightstar double down on lotteries, sidestepping the gaming sector’s 3% growth slowdown. Brightstar’s independence will fund $500 million in R&D over three years.
Brightstar’s Global Footprint
Brightstar operates in 90 jurisdictions, from New York to New Zealand, running lotteries, supplying tech, printing instant tickets, and creating games. In the U.S., Brightstar’s systems process 70% of retail lottery sales.
Globally, it supports lotteries like Italy’s Lotto, generating €14 billion yearly. Brightstar’s 1,200 instant ticket games and 300 digital titles keep players hooked.
