IGT inked a three-year deal to keep its PlaySports platform powering Boyd Gaming’s sports betting in Nevada, solidifying a key partnership through August 2028.

A Tech Partnership Locked In

International Game Technology PLC (IGT) sealed a new three-year agreement with Boyd Gaming Corporation, ensuring IGT’s PlaySports platform continues to drive Boyd’s retail and mobile sports betting in Nevada until August 2028.

The deal, building on a partnership launched in 2018, keeps Boyd’s 10 Nevada sportsbooks and its mobile app humming with IGT’s tech. “IGT PlaySports enables us to evolve Boyd Sports for our players,” said Bob Scucci, Boyd’s VP of Race & Sports Operations.

Boyd Gaming, operating 28 properties across 10 states, leans heavily on its Nevada sportsbooks, which handled $1.2 billion in wagers in 2024.

IGT’s PlaySports platform powers Boyd Sports at venues like The Orleans and Aliante, offering seamless betting on NFL, NBA, and horse racing.

The platform’s scalability lets Boyd roll out new features, like same-game parlays, which boosted mobile bets by 15% in 2024. Boyd’s 10 PlaySports Kiosks, self-service betting terminals, stay in place, cutting wait times at counters. Scucci noted the tech’s ability to “deliver incremental value” and tap new opportunities.

The Tech Behind the Bets

IGT’s PlaySports platform, launched in 2018, is a B2B juggernaut, powering 80 sportsbooks across 20 states. In Nevada, it supports 40% of retail betting terminals. The platform integrates odds from Don Best Sports, real-time data, and a mobile-first interface, handling 3 million bets monthly for Boyd alone.

Its reliability shone during the 2024 Super Bowl, processing $150 million in Nevada bets without hiccups. “Our technology’s performance and scalability are unmatched,” said Joe Bertolone, IGT’s SVP of Sports Betting. IGT’s $50 million annual R&D investment, per its 2024 report, keeps PlaySports ahead, adding features like cash-out options.
