Hollywood Casino Greektown to Launch ESPN BET Sportsbook Ahead of NFL Draft

17.04.2024

Hollywood Casino Greektown, owned by PENN Entertainment, is set to open its new ESPN BET retail sportsbook on April 24, strategically timed just before the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit.

Strategic Launch and Brand Expansion

The announcement comes as part of PENN Entertainment CEO Jay Snowden’s vision, which he shared during the company’s Q4 2023 earnings call.

Snowden highlighted plans for rolling out ESPN BET branding at Hollywood Casino Greektown in the second quarter of 2024.

Mike Morrison, Vice President of ESPN BET, explained the significance of this expansion, noting the brand’s enthusiasm for establishing its first retail presence in Michigan, “We cannot wait to open ESPN BET inside Hollywood Casino at Greektown for fans in Michigan ahead of some key sporting events.”

Capitalizing on the NFL Draft

The timing of the sportsbook’s debut is no coincidence, aligning perfectly with the NFL Draft scheduled from April 25-27, which is expected to attract a large number of fans to Detroit.

Located just five blocks from the main draft stage at Campus Maritus Park, Hollywood Casino Greektown is ideally positioned to attract visitors and fans coming into the city for the draft.

Last year’s NFL Draft held in Kansas City saw 312,000 attendees and generated an economic impact of over $164 million. Similar results are expected in Detroit, offering significant potential benefits for local casinos.
