George Milos Appointed Executive Director of Deadwood Gaming Association and BID 8

21.05.2024

As of May 15, George Milos has officially stepped into the role of Executive Director for both the Deadwood Gaming Association (DGA) and Business Improvement District 8 (BID 8).

This marks a new chapter for the DGA, the primary non-profit organization that has been advocating for South Dakota’s commercial casino sector since its establishment in 1990.

Deadwood Gaming Association’s Advocacy

The DGA plays a crucial role in representing the gaming industry within South Dakota.

It actively engages with legislative bodies, including the South Dakota Commission on Gaming and the Deadwood City Commission, to advocate for the interests of the commercial casino sector.

Milos’s appointment is expected to bolster these efforts, bringing fresh leadership and a wealth of experience to the association.

BID 8, which finances its initiatives through a hotel and motel occupancy tax, is dedicated to promoting Deadwood as a premier destination for visitors.

The revenue generated from this tax supports various projects, including the revitalization of Main Street, enhancing recreational opportunities, and ensuring the success of numerous events that align with the DGA’s goals.

Milos’s Extensive Background

George Milos brings a rich background to his new role, having previously served as the Director of Event Services for Deadwood Mountain Grand.

His experience includes a 13-year tenure with the Deadwood Chamber & Visitors Bureau, where he served as director for seven years.

Milos has been instrumental in organizing press junkets for major media outlets like HBO, ESPN, and CBS Sports, and his writings about Deadwood have appeared in prominent publications such as the Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

Caleb Arceneaux, President of the DGA and CEO of LIV Hospitality, expressed his confidence in Milos’s leadership, stating, “George has developed a deep love for Deadwood, the gaming industry, and the visitor industry through his time at the Chamber and in private, commercial businesses. With his public and private business experience he will be a welcome addition to our DGA and BID 8 efforts. We look forward to his leadership in taking our organization to new levels of engagement and growth.”

In his statement, George Milos shared his enthusiasm for his new role: “I am incredibly excited and humbled at the opportunity to represent an industry that provides so many good paying jobs with great benefits and has been a part of Deadwood’s fabric since the 1800s. I look forward to working with the industry, creating, and cultivating events and being a part of Deadwood’s future. I’m ready to get to work!”
