Genius Sports, a global partner for sports data, technology, and broadcasting, appointed Bryan Castellani as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Castellani, who will be based in the company’s New York office, brings over two decades of financial experience from major media and entertainment firms.

Reporting directly to Co-Founder and CEO Mark Locke, Castellani will lead Genius Sports’ global finance operations. His responsibilities include financial planning, accounting, treasury, tax, investor relations, and capital allocation as the company continues its transition to the U.S. market. He will also support strategic deals, including partnerships and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Outgoing CFO Nick Taylor will remain with the company temporarily to ensure a smooth transition.
Finance Leadership for a Growth Phase
Castellani joins Genius Sports after serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Warner Music Group. His background also includes senior roles at ESPN and The Walt Disney Company.
Mark Locke highlighted the importance of the new hire. He called the appointment a “pivotal moment” for the business. Locke stressed that Castellani’s background is a perfect fit, combining “deep financial discipline with an understanding of scaling media platforms.” This expertise is crucial as Genius Sports enters its next phase of growth.
Locke noted the company is building an advanced technology stack in sport. This stack includes the immersive live betting product BetVision and the AI-driven data platform GeniusIQ. Castellani’s role will be to ensure the firm converts its product leadership into sustained growth and cash generation.
Driving Efficient Scale and Execution
Castellani expressed excitement about joining Genius Sports, stating the company continues to redefine how data and technology power sports. He recognized the firm’s “exclusive rights, market-leading products and global reach” as creating a unique platform for momentum.
He looks forward to partnering with the executive team to drive “efficient scale, sharpen execution and deliver for customers, partners and shareholders.” Genius Sports’ technology is currently used in over 150 countries.
