In a joint operation with local law enforcement, the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) recently shut down five illegal casinos and seized gambling machines from two businesses.

Coordinated Efforts Across Counties

Last week, FGCC agents worked alongside law enforcement in Brevard and Volusia counties to address illegal gambling activity. This collaborative initiative led to the closure of illegal gambling facilities and the confiscation of assets.

Acting FGCC Executive Director Ross Marshman highlighted the importance of such partnerships, stating, “Through innovative strategies, enhanced resources, and collaboration, these efforts reflect our dedication to fostering trust and accountability while effectively addressing public safety concerns.”

Major Operation in Brevard County

On Tuesday, FGCC agents assisted the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in executing search warrants at five illegal casinos. The operation resulted in the seizure of:

  • Over 500 illegal gambling machines and related equipment
  • $845,000 in cash
  • A 2022 Chevy Silverado used for transporting cash from the establishments

The locations of the five facilities included:

Criminal arrests in connection with these activities are pending.

Community Concerns in Volusia County

Later in the week, FGCC agents partnered with the Port Orange Police Department to investigate two businesses flagged by citizen complaints.

These efforts resulted in:

  • Seizure of 19 illegal slot machines and gaming devices
  • Confiscation of over $6,000 in cash
  • Arrests of three individuals on charges of operating illegal gambling establishments and possessing illegal gaming devices

The establishments targeted were Stop & Go Convenience Store, 5687 S. Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange and Mark and Jill’s Village Tavern, 5263 S. Nova Rd, Port Orange.
