FanDuel Partners with Randy Livingston and Anita Smith for Responsible Gaming Education Initiative
In conjunction with Responsible Gaming Education Month, FanDuel has announced a new initiative titled “Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting”. The program, developed in partnership with former NBA player Randy Livingston and his wife, sports agent Anita Smith, aims to provide parents, guardians, and coaches with the tools to engage young people in discussions about the risks of gambling.
Launch of “Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting”
The “Trusted Voices” video series features Livingston sharing his personal journey, which includes his rise as a top basketball prospect, his NBA career, and his battle with problem gambling.
He opens up about his struggles, the impact on his life, and how he eventually sought recovery with support from his wife, Smith. The couple hopes their story will inspire others and offer practical guidance for families dealing with gambling-related issues.
Educational Resources and Program Goals
The program’s content was developed with input from EPIC Global Solutions, an organization specializing in gambling harm prevention.
It provides educational materials on the risks of gambling, how to recognize problem behaviors, and how to initiate open conversations about betting within families. Special emphasis is placed on responsible gambling practices for adults and the importance of keeping those under 21 away from sports betting platforms.
Livingston expressed his motivation for joining the initiative: “As legal sports betting continues to become more accessible, I knew I wanted to use my experience to help families engage in proactive and informed conversations about gambling. It became apparent to me and Anita that FanDuel shares our goal of helping parents navigate these tough, but important conversations.”
Smith added, “It is important to normalize conversations about gambling, and this program is intended to help families get comfortable with traditionally uncomfortable conversations. Randy and I are delighted to work with FanDuel to amplify the program’s content and drive positive outcomes for young people and anyone who may be struggling with problem gambling.”
FanDuel’s Commitment to Responsible Gaming
Alison Kutler, Vice President of Responsible Gaming and Community Impact at FanDuel, highlighted the importance of the initiative: “Randy and Anita have an incredible story and a desire to help others, and we are excited to expand our advocacy program to raise awareness of the importance of having early and informed family conversations about gambling and the associated risks. FanDuel aims to set and continuously raise the standard for what it means to be a responsible operator, and we look forward to Randy and Anita strengthening our RG ambassador team moving forward.”
The “Trusted Voices” content will be promoted through paid media campaigns and shared on FanDuel’s digital platforms, as well as the dedicated website, ConversationsAboutBetting.com. The site will be regularly updated with new content to support families in navigating these important discussions.
Teresa Fiore, VP of Partnerships at EPIC Global Solutions, also praised the partnership: “Randy’s experience of problem gambling, coupled with Anita’s first-hand account of what it is like to live alongside someone in that situation, makes for a powerful message and ensures that people sit up and listen. We are proud to have played our part in bringing this program to life and commend FanDuel for being proactive around encouraging families to be open in their discussions around engagement with gambling.”
In addition to launching “Trusted Voices”, FanDuel is expanding its partnership with Kindbridge Behavioral Health to offer comprehensive mental health services nationwide. Kindbridge specializes in supporting individuals dealing with problem gambling, providing telehealth assessments and group support services. Initially piloted in New Jersey and Ohio, the program is now available in all jurisdictions where FanDuel operates.
