FanDuel Joins Forces with DC’s Office of Lottery and Gaming as New Sports Wagering Operator
In a pivotal move within the sports wagering sector, the Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has officially endorsed FanDuel, a leading name in the sports betting industry, as the newly appointed sports wagering subcontractor for Intralot, Inc., the principal lottery and sports wagering system vendor for the District of Columbia.
This collaboration heralds a significant shift in the sports betting landscape for residents and visitors of Washington, D.C., granting them access to FanDuel’s esteemed sports wagering app, alongside its comprehensive website and retail platforms.
Frank Suarez, the Executive Director of OLG, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “FanDuel’s industry-leading offering will ensure that the District maximizes revenue under its existing contracts this year while delivering a best-in-class experience for 18+ residents.” This sentiment underscores the strategic importance of this alliance in enhancing the sports betting experience within the district.
Set to launch in spring, FanDuel’s mobile sports wagering platform will be accessible within the geographical confines of the District of Columbia, catering to both residents and tourists alike. The partnership is not just about enhancing the user experience; it also promises considerable financial gains for the district. An immediate financial perk is the initial $5 million fee that Intralot will contribute within the current fiscal year, a move that guarantees a boost in sports wagering revenue for D.C. in 2024.
