Fanatics to Launch a Comic Con-Style Sports Festival at the Javits Center

15.04.2024

Fanatics, primarily known for its sports merchandise, is stepping into the events management arena with the introduction of Fanatics Fest NYC.

This sports festival, modeled after the immensely popular New York Comic Con, aims to bring the excitement of comic book conventions to the sports world. Scheduled to take place from August 16 to 18 at the Javits Center in Manhattan, the event will feature a range of ticket prices, from $20 to $400, making it accessible to a broad audience.

Collaboration with Major Sports Leagues

Fanatics Fest NYC will see participation from the top sports leagues in North America, including the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), National Hockey League (NHL), and Major League Baseball (MLB).

The festival is set to host a lineup of celebrity sports figures, enhancing its appeal. Notable attendees include football stars Peyton and Eli Manning, NFL legend Tom Brady, NBA star Kevin Durant, MLB icon Derek Jeter, WNBA player Sabrina Ionescu, and professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan.

Strategic Growth and New Ventures

The move into events marks a strategic expansion for Fanatics, which has recently extended its business into trading cards and sports betting through various licensing deals and acquisitions.

Last year, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin appointed Lance Fensterman, former director of New York Comic Con and ReedPop executive, to spearhead this new division. Fensterman’s experience with launching major events is poised to play a crucial role in the success of Fanatics Fest NYC.

Fanatics Events, a collaboration with Endeavor Group Holdings Inc.’s IMG, has already hosted its first major event earlier in April in Philadelphia with WWE World at WrestleMania, in partnership with World Wrestling Entertainment.
