Evoke Appoints Anne Sewell as Chief People Officer
Evoke has appointed Anne Sewell as its new Chief People Officer (CPO). Sewell brings extensive experience in global HR transformation from her previous role as CPO at Dentsu, Asia’s largest advertising and media conglomerate.
Per Widerström, Evoke’s CEO, welcomed Sewell to the executive team, highlighting her impressive track record and expertise in creating winning cultures. “I am delighted to welcome Anne as our new Chief People Officer to bolster our first-class executive team. With an incredible track record and extensive experience creating winning cultures, we are confident she is the right person to take our people strategy forward and help us unleash the full potential of our colleagues around the globe,” said Widerström.
“I would also like to thank Mark Skinner, who is leaving the Group to take up a new opportunity outside the industry. Over his eight years with us, he played a pivotal role in the development of our HR functions and significantly helped us bring the fantastic colleagues from 888 and William Hill together. We wish him well for the future,” added Evoke’s CEO.
Great Timing
Sewell’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment as Evoke transitions to its new corporate identity, encompassing brands like 888, William Hill, and Mr. Green.
Her role is crucial as the company embarks on executing its Value Creation Plan (VCP) for 2024, which focuses on resetting the operating model and steering the business towards sustainable profitability.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Sewell described this period as an “exciting time” for Evoke. She is eager to collaborate with CEO Per Widerström and the Evoke team, demonstrating her commitment to driving the company’s future success through effective people management.
Strategic Focus
Evoke’s strategic decision to exit the US market in the first quarter of 2024 aligns with its goal to streamline operations and focus on profitability.
As Chief People Officer, Sewell will lead Evoke’s global HR strategy, focusing on talent management, organizational development, and culture-building.
The appointment of Sewell also marks the departure of former CPO Mark Skinner, who had been with Evoke for eight years. Skinner was crucial in developing the company’s HR functions and integrating teams from 888 and William Hill.
