DraftKings Backs Missouri Sports Betting Initiative
DraftKings has made a financial contribution to support the legalization of sports betting in Missouri. Just days after the political action committee (PAC) Winning for Missouri Education (WME) succeeded in placing the issue on the November ballot, DraftKings provided a substantial cash injection to bolster the campaign.

Educating Voters on Sports Betting Benefits
DraftKings’ financial support is primarily aimed at educating Missouri voters about the potential benefits of legalizing sports betting.
Jack Cardetti, spokesman for the WME campaign, emphasized that the funds would be used to spread awareness across the state in the lead-up to the November vote. “Now that we are officially on the ballot, we’ll be over the next two and a half months talking to Missourians across the state about why it makes sense to set up a legal sports betting framework that helps public education.”
DraftKings’ involvement is motivated by the potential size of the Missouri sports betting market, which is estimated to generate up to $290 million annually.
If the amendment is approved, a 10% tax on revenue could yield around $29 million in annual tax revenue for the state. Of this, the first $5 million would go toward combating problem gambling, with the remainder directed to public education. DraftKings and other backers see this financial potential as a key selling point for voters.
A Broader Alliance with FanDuel and Pro Sports Teams
DraftKings is not the only major player supporting the initiative. FanDuel, along with Missouri’s six professional sports teams—including the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs—has also thrown its weight behind the effort.
As reported in the quarterly update dated May 15, substantial contributions were made by the leading sportsbooks in the country at that time. FanDuel had donated just over $4 million, while DraftKings had contributed $2 million. These donations made up almost all of the approximately $6.5 million raised to support the measure.
