Delaware Sees Record Sports Betting and Online Casino Growth in March
Delaware’s sports betting industry saw an unprecedented lift in March, with the total handle reaching $18.9 million, a 440% increase compared to the previous year’s $3.5 million, and a 37% rise from February’s $13.8 million.
The growth can largely be attributed to the successful introduction of the Delaware Lottery’s first online sportsbook, operated in partnership with Rush Street Interactive (RSI) and BetRivers, which launched fully in January.
Leading Contributors to the Surge
Delaware Park was the most successful venue in March, generating $681,548 in revenue from $13.1 million in bets.
Following closely were Harrington Raceway and Bally’s Dover, generating significant revenues of $176,583 and $113,692 from $3.3 million and $1.5 million in bets respectively.
Additionally, $58,273 in revenue was generated from $990,664 worth of bets placed with retailers throughout the state.
Parallel Growth in Online Casino Market
Parallel to the growth in sports betting, Delaware’s online casino market also witnessed an increase. The total spend for March in this sector was $136.0 million, marking a 227.7% increase year-on-year, and a 16.0% increase from February’s $117.2 million.
Within this market, $85.3 million was wagered on video lottery games, and $50.7 million on online table games. The total revenue from online casinos for March stood at $4.6 million, surpassing the previous year’s figure by 228.6% and marking an 18.0% increase from February’s $3.9 million.
Of this revenue, online video games contributed $3.3 million, and table games added $1.3 million.
