Washington, D.C.’s sports betting market reported a total handle of nearly $66 million in December 2024, with players collecting over $61 million in payouts. Sportsbooks generated $3.9 million in revenue, reflecting a low hold of just 6%. December turned out to be a favorable month for bettors, largely due to NFL results that leaned in their favor, reducing sportsbook profits.

FanDuel – The Market Leader

Here’s a breakdown of how major operators performed during the month.

FanDuel topped the charts in December with $2.9 million in revenue, driven by a massive $34 million handle. Bettors placed over 1.6 million wagers, while payouts totaled $31.2 million. As the exclusive partner of the DC Lottery, FanDuel continues to dominate the local market.

DraftKings earned $0.7 million in revenue during December, thanks to more than 1 million bets placed. The platform handled $15.5 million in wagers and paid out $14.8 million to players.

Fanatics generated $0.2 million in revenue from 65,529 bets placed, with a total handle of $3.3 million. Payouts reached $3.1 million, and the operator contributed $69,302 in taxes. While still growing, Fanatics is steadily carving out a place in the competitive D.C. market.

Other Operators’ Performance

  • Caesars: Handled $6.5 million in bets and paid out $6.4 million, earning $122,077 in revenue.
  • BetMGM: Managed $6 million in wagers, resulting in $145,907 in revenue after paying $5.8 million in winnings.

Both Caesars and BetMGM are gradually expanding their presence, adding depth to the D.C. betting scene.
