Connecticut Smashes Sports Betting Records in September
In September, the Connecticut sports betting market set new records. Bettors put $214.4 million on the line, slightly surpassing the previous record of $212.2 million set back in December 2023. This represents a notable 18.5% jump compared to September of last year and a massive 65.9% increase from August 2024.
Online Betting Dominates the Action
The vast majority of the action came from online betting, which accounted for $204.9 million of the total handle, while retail sportsbooks contributed $9.5 million.
The total betting activity translated into an eye-popping $26.6 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR), shattering the previous record of $24.9 million set in January 2024.
The revenue increase marked a 41.5% surge from last year and an even more impressive 94.2% growth from just a month earlier in August.
FanDuel and Mohegan Sun Lead the Charge
Leading the way in Connecticut’s sports betting boom were FanDuel and Mohegan Sun, raking in $11.7 million from an online handle of $69.4 million, boasting a hold of 16.86%.
On the retail side, Fanatics and the Connecticut Lottery Corp dominated the field, bringing in $1.2 million in revenue from a $9.1 million handle, with a solid hold of 13.19%.
