Wyoming Finds No Major Issues with Sports Betting Limits
The Wyoming Gaming Commission’s investigation into online sports betting operators revealed that less than 1% of bettors face limits, mostly for cheating.

A Clean Bill of Health
Wyoming’s sports betting scene got a solid check-up from the Wyoming Gaming Commission, which found no big problems with operators limiting bettors. “Most limits are tied to cheating,” said Michael Steinberg, supervisor of special agents, after a deep dive into data from all online sports betting operators in the state.
With fewer than 1% of bettors facing restrictions, and no complaints from residents, the Commission sees a healthy state gaming market. The findings, released in 2025, ease concerns about unfair practices, keeping Wyoming’s betting vibe fair and regulated.
The Commission’s investigation, led by Steinberg, pulled data from every online sports betting operator in Wyoming to understand why bettors get limited. “Our talks with operators were productive,” Steinberg noted, uncovering a range of reasons for restrictions.
Most boil down to cheating: bettors placing prop bets during live events before TV broadcasts, teaming up to manipulate odds across platforms, or creating multiple accounts to snag bonuses. “These are clear violations,” Steinberg said.
A Closer Look at Limits
Not all reasons for limiting raised red flags, but one caught the Commission’s eye: restricting bettors for exploiting operators’ odds-setting errors.
“It’s a minor concern,” Steinberg admitted, noting that fewer than 10% of limited bettors, already a tiny group, faced curbs for this reason.
The other 90% of restrictions targeted clear-cut cheating, like odds manipulation or bonus abuse. “Limits are very reasonable,” the report stated, with no signs of widespread unfairness.
Wyoming’s bettors seem content, with the Commission reporting zero complaints about limiting practices. “We haven’t heard a peep,” Steinberg said, a stark contrast to other states where bettors gripe about restrictions.
