New Hampshire Sports Betting Handle Reaches $80.8 Million in December

23.01.2025

December 2024 proved to be an active month for sports betting in New Hampshire, with a total handle of $80.8 million. While this figure represents a slight dip compared to November, it still exceeded December 2023’s performance by $2 million. Mobile betting continued to dominate, accounting for nearly 89% of the total handle.

Mobile Betting Takes the Lead

Out of the total handle, $71.6 million came from mobile wagers, highlighting the growing reliance on online platforms for sports betting. Mobile operators also contributed the majority of the gross gaming revenue (GGR), bringing in $5.8 million out of the total $7.4 million GGR.

Retail sportsbooks, while less dominant, still played a role. They generated $9.2 million in bets and over $1.6 million in GGR for the month.

Revenue Trends

Although the December handle showed resilience, gross gaming revenue saw a notable decline. The total GGR of $7.4 million marked a drop of nearly $5 million compared to the same period last year.

This decline represents a broader trend of slimmer margins, possibly influenced by bettor-friendly outcomes in popular sports like the NFL during the month.

Tax Contributions

Despite the dip in revenue, sports betting continued to generate significant tax benefits for New Hampshire. In December, the state collected $3.3 million in taxes from sports wagering, further bolstering public funds. Over the last six months, the cumulative sports betting handle reached nearly $418 million.

For the current fiscal year, mobile sportsbooks have proven to be a major driver of revenue, generating $36.9 million in GGR. Retail betting added an additional $3 million.
