Norby Williamson Joins FanDuel Sports Network After Decades Spent in ESPN
After nearly 40 years at ESPN, sports media veteran Norby Williamson is taking on a new challenge. Starting January 13, he’ll oversee production for FanDuel Sports Network under Main Street Sports Group.
A New Chapter for Norby Williamson
Norby Williamson, a legendary figure in sports broadcasting, is beginning an exciting new chapter in his career. After nearly 40 years with ESPN, Williamson will now oversee production for the FanDuel Sports Network under Main Street Sports Group, starting January 13.
The timing is significant as Main Street Sports Group has rebranded from Diamond Sports Group and emerged from bankruptcy. Now boasting regional broadcast rights for 13 NBA teams, 8 NHL teams, and 8 MLB teams, along with a fresh distribution partnership with Amazon, the company is poised for a resurgence in the sports media industry.
Decades of Excellence at ESPN
Williamson’s career journey is a testament to hard work and innovation. He started at ESPN in 1985 in the mailroom and rose to become one of the company’s top executives.
Most recently, as Executive Editor and Executive Vice President of Content, Williamson oversaw live coverage of marquee events like NFL and college football games while shaping editorial direction and investigative journalism across platforms such as ESPN.com, the ESPN app, and ESPN+.
His influence extended to iconic productions, including SportsCenter, College GameDay, and the US Open. Over the years, his work earned him an impressive array of accolades, including 35 Sports Emmy Awards, four Edward R. Murrow Awards, and three Peabody Awards.
Building a Strong Leadership Team at FanDuel TV
Williamson isn’t the only new addition to FanDuel TV’s leadership team. In December, Michael Shiffman joined the network as Senior Vice President and Executive Producer.
Shiffman is responsible for shaping FanDuel TV’s programming and production strategies, reporting directly to Mike Raffensperger, President of FanDuel Sports.
