Poker Tops U.S. Online Casino Game Searches in 2024

A recent analysis by BetMGM of Google Trends has identified poker as the most-searched online casino game across the United States in 2024.

Regional Gaming Preferences Vary

This surge in poker’s popularity shows the game’s strong cultural roots in the U.S., according to BetMGM’s Senior Manager of Poker Marketing, Will O’Connor.

The study provides insights into regional gaming preferences, highlighting how cultural and regulatory factors shape what players are looking for.

While poker leads the way nationwide, other popular games vary by region. Slot machines, blackjack, roulette, and bingo all ranked highly in the analysis.

For example, Pennsylvania recorded the highest number of searches for “online casino,” which aligns with its leadership in the legalized online gaming market.

In Nevada, poker, roulette, and blackjack dominated the search landscape, reflecting the state’s deep history in traditional gaming.

Bingo and Slots Hold Regional Strongholds

The analysis also showed that bingo has strong popularity in Washington D.C., as well as in parts of the southern and central U.S. states like Mississippi and Oklahoma.

These areas, known for their land-based casinos, also showed a strong preference for slot machines. These trends shows how local regulations and land-based gaming infrastructure can heavily influence online gaming behavior.

States with legalized online gaming, such as Pennsylvania, show strong online interest, while states with long-standing land-based gambling traditions, like Nevada, maintain a preference for traditional games such as poker and roulette.
