New Jersey’s iGaming Hits Record High in September 2024
New Jersey’s iGaming revenue from online gaming in September 2024 surpassed $200 million for the first time.
Traditional Casinos Face Challenges
According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, online gaming revenue surged by 27.1% compared to last year, totaling an impressive $208.1 million. This brings the state’s total iGaming earnings for 2024 to over $1.73 billion.
While iGaming continues to thrive, New Jersey’s traditional casinos saw a dip in their earnings. Casino revenue in September reached $230.6 million, down 6.5% compared to the same time last year.
Year-to-date, the total revenue for brick-and-mortar casinos stands at $2.15 billion, a slight 0.9% drop.
Sports Betting Holds Strong
Sports betting also performed well in September, with revenue increasing by 7.6% year-over-year. The state’s sportsbooks brought in $119.6 million last month, contributing to a total of $835.4 million in sports betting revenue for the year—a 17.8% increase compared to 2023.
Borgata Hotel and Casino once again proved to be a top performer, generating $62.4 million in revenue, a 15% increase from last year. Despite a decrease in slot machine and table game wins, Borgata’s iGaming and sports betting profits helped offset these losses. Other casinos, like Tropicana, Caesars, Bally’s, and Hard Rock, also saw strong results in their sports betting operations.
