Florida Seeks Vendor to Strengthen Responsible Gambling Measures

As Florida expands its gambling offerings, the state is taking steps to ensure consumer protection through enhanced responsible gambling measures.

Florida Initiates Search for Responsible Gambling Vendor

With sports betting already available through the Hard Rock Bet platform, Florida is now seeking to strengthen its responsible gambling (RG) framework.

The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) has initiated a call for information to find a vendor capable of providing resources and services that address gambling addiction and prevent gambling-related harm before it occurs.

In a public statement, the FGCC emphasized its commitment to ensuring that Floridians and visitors alike can enjoy legal gaming responsibly.

This initiative aims to prevent reckless spending and help individuals avoid developing problematic gambling behaviors.

FGCC Vice Chair Julie I. Brown stated, “My fellow commissioners and I look forward to the results of this process and to provide progressive resources and scalable services in Florida that will have a clear impact.”

Comprehensive Approach to Responsible Gambling

Once a vendor is chosen, they will be tasked with developing an advertising program focused on promoting responsible gambling practices.

Additionally, the vendor will set up helpline resources and other materials designed to protect consumers from gambling-related harm.

These resources will aim to educate players and ensure that help is accessible to those who need it.

Adapting to an Evolving Gambling Landscape

FGCC Executive Director Lou Trombetta highlighted the need for adaptable solutions as Florida’s legal gaming landscape continues to evolve.

He also noted the ongoing challenges posed by the black market, which can harm consumers by operating outside regulatory safeguards.

“As the landscape of legal gaming and sports betting evolves in Florida, as well as illegal gambling facilities and sites, we recognize the need to have adaptable solutions and expansive options as part of our Compulsive or Addictive Gambling Prevention Program,” Trombetta said.
