Indiana Sports Betting Sees Year-Over-Year Growth in July

In July 2024, Indiana’s sports betting handle totaled $261.1 million, reflecting a 28% increase compared to the same period last year, although the figure marked a 12.4% drop from June’s handle.

Online Betting Dominates Market

According to the Indiana Gaming Commission, the state’s sportsbooks reported $29 million in adjusted gross revenue, a 25% increase year-over-year, though slightly down by 4% from the previous month.

Of the total amount wagered, online sports betting made up the vast majority, with $254.7 million in bets, while in-person casinos accounted for $6.2 million. The state collected $2.76 million in taxes from sports betting activities.

Top Performers in Indiana’s Online Sports Betting Market

Among online operators, DraftKings led with the highest handle at $94.4 million, achieving a 10.4% hold. FanDuel followed closely, generating $10.5 million in revenue from a $78 million handle. Other operators performed as follows:

  • BetMGM posted $2.5 million in revenue from a $25.4 million handle.
  • Caesars earned $1.7 million from a $16.1 million handle.
  • bet365 generated $1.2 million in revenue from $13.1 million in bets.

In terms of popular sports, baseball emerged as the top choice for bettors in Indiana, accounting for $73.8 million wagered during the month. This reflects the ongoing appeal of the sport, particularly during its active summer season.
