Light & Wonder Saw 12% Revenue Increase in Q2
Light & Wonder reported Q2 consolidated revenue of $818 million, a 12% increase year-over-year. The growth was driven by increases across various segments of the company’s operations.
Growth Across Different Businesses
Q2 gaming revenue rose to $539 million, up 14% compared to the prior year, driven by a 32% increase in global gaming machine sales and record gaming operations unit expansion in North America.
SciPlay revenue grew to $205 million, an 8% increase from the previous year, propelled by the social casino business’s strong payer metrics and direct-to-consumer platform growth.
Furthermore, iGaming revenue increased to $74 million, a 6% rise from the prior year, with significant momentum in North America.
Overall, Q2 2024 was the eighth consecutive quarter of double-digit consolidated revenue growth year-over-year and the 13th consecutive quarter of consolidated revenue growth.
“Our 13th consecutive quarter of consolidated revenue growth reflects the strength of our combined business and solid financial profile. We continue to see improved earnings quality with consistent growth and healthy margins, all while investing back into the business to scale for the future,” said Oliver Chow, CFO of Light & Wonder.
Dynamic H1 Development
L&W’s consolidated AEBITDA also rose in Q2 by over 17% to $330 million. For H1 it increased by 15% to $610 million, driven by an H1 12,5% revenue surge
Q2 net income was $82 million compared to $5 million in the prior year period, primarily due to higher revenue and strong margins, along with lower depreciation and amortization, which was slightly offset by higher restructuring and other costs.
For H1, net income rose much more significantly by 412,5%, from $32 million to $164 million. Adjusted NPATA grew by 40$ for Q2 and by 31% for H1.
“Light & Wonder continues to capitalize on opportunities underpinned by our scale and diversified product offerings. Our global presence enables further product refinement and market penetration with our suite of games and casino solutions,” said Matt Wilson, President and CEO of Light & Wonder.
