Sports Betting Handle in Massachusetts Increased by 57.5% in June

Sports betting in Massachusetts saw an impressive 57.5% year-on-year increase in handle in June. Players’ total spending last month was $509.4 million.

Year-on-Year Wagers Surge

June’s handle was significantly higher than last year but lower than the figures recorded in May. In this context, operators experienced a 13.3% decrease in handle, from $587.3 million to $509.4 million.

A remarkable portion of June’s handle came from online sports betting, which accounted for a total of $500.7 million in wagers.

Retail and online operators collectively generated $40.5 million in revenue, which is an improvement over last year but lower than the $57 million achieved in May.

DraftKings Dominance and Bally Bet debut

June in Massachusetts once again belonged to DraftKings, which accounted for over 50% of the state’s operators’ handle, recording an impressive $263.7 million with revenues of $19.3 million.

FanDuel reported $141.4 million in handle, placing second behind its main rival with revenues of $16.5 million. BetMGM rounded out the top three, though it trailed significantly behind the leading pair, with $34 million in handle and $2.3 million in revenues.
