Michigan Authorities Resolve Illegal Gambling Operation Case in Flint
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has successfully resolved an enforcement action against three illegal gambling establishments in Flint, Michigan, known as The Cellular Vault, The Vault, and The Flint Arcade.
Background of the Case
The resolution involved the clearance and sale of the contents of the establishments, with an agreement that the property will not be used for any purpose for one year.
The enforcement action stemmed from a property nuisance complaint against L.D. Lam Properties, managed by Linos Antonio Kas-Mikha, earlier this year. Kas-Mikha faced significant consequences as he was banned from engaging in activities deemed a nuisance throughout Genesee County.
Additionally, he was mandated to pay $3,500 to cover associated costs from the legal actions.
Comments from MGCB and Local Government
Henry Williams, the executive director of the MGCB, reiterated the importance of maintaining the integrity of the regulated gaming industry by addressing illegal operations. “Illegal gambling operations anywhere undermine the integrity of our regulated gaming industry everywhere,” Williams stated. He also expressed gratitude towards Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley and various community and law enforcement partners who played pivotal roles in the resolution of this case.
Mayor Sheldon Neeley praised the collaborative effort that led to the shutdown of the illegal gambling operation. He highlighted the broader impact of such enforcement, stating, “I hope the forfeiture of the Corunna Road establishment sends a strong message that we will hold bad actors accountable when they profit from illegal activities that threaten public health and safety.”
