Washington, DCās sports betting market experienced a downturn in April 2024.
Revenue and Handle Analysis
Revenue fell sharply by 62.4% from $1.4 million in March to $526,689. This also represents a 59.5% decline compared to the same month last year.
Players wagered a total of $14.5 million during April, which remained consistent with April 2023 but showed a 5.7% decrease from the $15.7 million handle recorded in March 2024.
Operator Performance
GambetDC led the market, with players wagering $6.9 million. After accounting for $6.5 million in winnings, GambetDC generated $394,224 in revenue. Notably, this performance was achieved despite the brand ceasing operations in mid-April following its acquisition by FanDuel.
FanDuel reported $194,236 in revenue from a handle of $550,751 during its initial weeks of operation which marks a strong entry into the DC market. Caesars which had led the market in March, posted a $165,196 loss in April from a handle of $6.9 million. BetMGM generated $226,880 in revenue from a total handle of $3.1 million, demonstrating a solid performance.
