Nevada Regulators Halt Dave & Buster’s Betting Proposal
Dave & Buster’s recently proposed allowing adults aged 18 and older to place real-time bets with friends on arcade games. However, this idea was swiftly rejected by Nevada gaming regulators.
Regulatory Response
Kirk Hendrick, Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, confirmed that enforcement agents had discussions with Dave & Buster’s management regarding their operations in Summerlin and Henderson.
Following these conversations, it was decided that the locations would not proceed with offering wagering. Hendrick emphasized the board’s firm stance against “unlicensed gaming.”
In an official statement, Hendrick outlined the board’s concerns, stating that they “oppose activities that could promote underage gambling, as well as wagering activities by businesses catering to a significant number of minor clientele.” This move reflects the board’s commitment to preventing gambling practices in environments frequented by minors.
Wider Regulatory Pushback
Dave & Buster’s is also encountering resistance from casino regulators in other states, including Ohio, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.
These states are similarly wary of the potential risks associated with introducing betting activities in family-oriented entertainment venues.
